Nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Nether Westcote in Oxfordshire, The Feathered Nest Inn combines 350 years of rich history with countryside charm. Originally a malt house, this traditional Cotswolds pub now offers 3 AA Rosette cuisine, four boutique bedrooms, a dog-friendly cottage perfect for wedding guests wanting to book accommodation in the area and unrivalled countryside views. The inn is located just a 90-minute train journey from London in the quintessential English countryside and with plans for eight additional bedrooms approved in a stand-alone new property on-site, the future of this charming hideaway looks brighter than ever.
Recently appointed head chef Renemar Pinedo fuses his Caribbean heritage with his training under the helm of Ollie Dabbous and Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons to offer his creative take on the elevated British menus, showcasing Asian and Caribbean influences, and his passion for fresh seafood and open grill cooking.
Menus are seasonal and locally sourced, with fish brought in fresh daily and many of the herbs and vegetables grown in the pub garden. Seasonal dishes on the a la carte menu include a delicious, glazed pork belly with Asian cabbage, verjus, grapes, and bacon, and a fresh, and colourful tuna tartare served with wasabi, ponzu, lime, radish and crackers. Mains courses feature giant Rigatoni with pistachio pesto, basil, parmesan, ricotta and shrimp, and whole Dover sole with Jersey royals, seasonal vegetables and beurre noisette. Steak fans will love the speciality beef cuts, cooked on the Josper grill, choose from picanha, rib-eye or chateaubriand (for sharing) all served with creamed mashed potato, bone marrow and braised beef garnish. In contrast, the vegetarian menu features tempura broccoli with Thai basil, truffled leek with pickled mushroom and hispi cabbage with grape, almond and miso.
For special occasions, indulge in the six-course tasting menu (£85) with a glass of Rathfinny Sparkling wine served to start and an optional selected wine pairing for (£75). Long and lazy Sunday lunches are a Feathered Nest speciality. From traditional Sunday roasts to grilled fish and vegetarian dishes, guests can enjoy the day of rest with unrivalled views on the glorious terrace overlooking the Evenlode Valley.
