Planning a wedding can be challenging, especially when there are so many decisions...
A new bar and an expanded food menu are among the new additions to Cheltenham's Greenway Hotel and Spa, a 16th-century manor house hotel which has been named as one of the top ten country house hotels by The Times' guide to the 100 best places to stay in the UK for 2024.
The boutique property, which's set within eight acres of countryside grounds and holds a 4 AA Red Star rating as well as the 3AA Rosette-awarded Garden Room restaurant, has completed a refurbishment across its communal areas, including the spa brasserie, its main reception and stairwell, and its multi-purpose Austen Room.
The venue's Austen Room – which can cater for up to 12 people for meetings, private dining and other events – is now equipped with a James Bond-esque motorised wall-mounted ArtTV frame which can alternate between a picture and a TV for meetings, private dining or functions.
It complements a separate transformation of the venue's 21 bedrooms, which was completed in March 2023 – bringing total investment in the hotel to around £1.4 million over the past two years. The Orchard Brasserie, located next to the hotel's luxurious Elan Spa, has seen the installation of a permanent bar, serving a range of hot and cold beverages. The menu has also been expanded to now offer hot breakfast and evening meals to complement its existing lunch and afternoon tea offerings, and has extended its opening hours from 8 am to 7 pm.
The neighbouring manor house has also completed its new look. The limestone Tudor fireplace in the hotel's main manor house reception – which is an original feature of the building alongside the oak wall panelling – and the existing wall panelling has been reinvigorated with a mid-tone blue backdrop which, combined with lighting control, creates a consistently warm ambience throughout the day. Another of the hotel's oldest features, the stairwell, has also been revitalised with Liberty wallpaper bursting with gold, grey and teal colours which form the main theme of the corridor area.
